Barðarbunga at Holuhraun 09/09/2014
9pm CST. This event was recorded from Barðarbunga #1 cam and shows the
numerous tornadoes generated from a greatly accelerated outflow of lava
that evening. I'm calling them "Volcnadoes, for want of a better word."

A closeup video from the second cam at Barðarbunga that shows lava fountains as they are ejected from the eruption site. This event was recorded at 9:30PM CST.

I have a foreboding feeling about this eruption at this volcanic system this time.... could this be the next Big Thing?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking it will be. A steady stream of moderate quakes, subsidence in the nearby glacier, and the fact that now, the eruption is occurring in a dike all lead me to believe that more is coming. Could we be seeing another Laki? Only time will tell for sure.
